  WEDDING DOCUMENTATION
A perfect Wedding is well planned and arranged with the greatest care to the minutest detail. There are many packages for you to select your romantic Wedding in Greece. We can create the Wedding of your dreams. To arrange a Wedding in Greece you will need the documents listed below.

Legal Documents for a Civil Wedding in Greece
This is the most popular way for foreign nationals of any faith to get married in Greece.

The official regulation governing civil marriages of foreign nationals in Greece basically states that: Parties concerned must fulfill the civil laws of Greece on marriage (this basically means that you will have to supply the required - by Greek Law - documentation).

The required documents are:
  • Civil Wedding Application form (see our attached form to be completed by yourselves and returned to us)
  • Birth Certificate for each applicant
  • Certificate of No-Impediment to Marriage for each applicant
  • Simple legal affidavit drawn by your local solicitor/attorney whereby you and your partner empower Ms Lilianne Filia Charitos, your personal local Wedding Co-ordinator, to deal for and on your behalf with all local authorities concerned for the planning & organisation of your civil marriage in Corfu.
  • Copies of your passports

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will have to have all the above stated documents translated into Greek by an approved local translator (your local Greek Consulate can help you with this by providing you with some contacts) and certified by the local Greek Consulate at your home country, prior to having them (originals and certified translations) send over to us. We always suggest that you use a safe channel when sending your documents over to us, like registered mail or courrier service.

We explain the procedure involved for your benefit and information here below:

Once we receive your documents, we will then:
  • Arrange for an advertisement to be placed (for one day) in the local press, stating the concerned parties intention to marry, a copy of which is displayed at the Town Hall for 8 days, according to the Greek Law. Another copy of this ad is also saved for your benefit and use.
  • Submit for and on your behalf the documents to the local Registrar's Office to apply for your civil wedding license. This has to be done, according to the Greek Law minimum three months in advance of your proposed wedding date. A stamp duty and a license fee are payable at this stage that is why we normally require at least 50% of the total wedding fee to be paid to us in advance.
  • Within 2 weeks of the documents being submitted, your wedding license is issued, which is always valid for the next 6 months. Your wedding may take place as soon as the license is issued.
  • With all the documents and the newly issued wedding licence in hand, we submit it to the local Town Hall to have your proposed civil wedding date confirmed and booked.
o Your civil wedding takes place at at the local Town Hall in the presence of 2 witnesses (we will stand in for you in case you haven't any with you).

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will deal with the necessary proceedings on your behalf. You must be physically present in Greece minimum 3 days prior to your civil wedding date and at least 1 working day after, as we take you to have your wedding registered at the local Registrar's Office (your personal presence there is required).
You can have your civil wedding in Greece within 3 weeks of submitting your papers to us.
